2. Server logs

When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically records technical access data (IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent) in server logs. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (operational security). Deleted according to the hosting provider's standard retention periods.

3. Submitted videos & votes

When you suggest a video, we store the TikTok link, its public metadata (title, author, thumbnail – via the official TikTok oEmbed API), and optionally your email address for follow-up questions. When you vote (upvote), we do not store your plain IP address — only a one-way hash derived from your IP address and browser identifier, to prevent duplicate votes. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (operating the ranking service).

4. Embedded TikTok videos

We deliberately load video previews only once you actively click "Load video" (two-click solution). Only then is a connection to TikTok/ByteDance established; this may transfer personal data (e.g. your IP address) to countries outside the EU. TikTok's own privacy policy applies to that connection. Once we integrate ad networks, we will add a cookie/consent banner here (TTDSG/GDPR).

5. Language setting

We store your language choice (German/English) in a purely functional, non-tracking cookie. Under § 25(2)(2) TTDSG this is technically necessary and does not require separate consent. Without an active choice, we only detect your preferred language from the language setting your browser already sends (Accept-Language header) — nothing is stored in that case.

6. Your rights
